About me

I have over a decade of experience producing digital content, including articles, blogs, video and social media campaigns geared toward raising awareness and resources for non-profit organizations. I started as a writer and editor for a business magazine, and expanded into non-profit communications. I am dedicated to using my skills to support organizations that support justice, equity, and building a society based on the rule of law. I do this through fearless storytelling—sometimes by telling a person’s story, and sometimes by supporting them as they stand up to the microphone themselves.

Editing is like crossing a river and words are the stepping stones. If they don’t hold weight, if they wobble or lack integrity, the reader will lose trust and – click– they are gone.
— me

I’ve always followed my interests and they have always led me to interesting places. I started at the University of Washington, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Russian Studies. After spending a few years in Russia and supporting legal reform there, I went to the American University in Cairo (AUC) to get a multidisciplinary master’s degree in Gender and Women’s Studies. I ended up using my Russian language skills and ethnographic training to study the recent migration of Russians into Egypt, and I received research and travel grants in the process.

I lived through the Arab Spring in Cairo and saw up close what happens when democracy is so far in the rear-view mirror even million-person marches can’t bring it back. I now dedicate my time and skills to supporting causes that ensure we all can continue to live in a free society.
